ABSTRACT

A research used R & D method has been conducted to develop a physical chemistry course model for prospective teachers. The develop model combined active learning, cooperative learning, problem-solving. The model implemented on Physical chemistry course of a chemistry teacher training program at Makassar that consist of 39 students of experimental class and 42 students of control class. The course applied four topics that are: kinetic reaction, reaction mechanism, temperature effect, and photochemistry. Result of the research show that student’s achievement of experimental class better than control class. Average score of experimental class on kinetic reaction, reaction mechanism, temperature effect, and photochemistry are: 52.56, 55.44, 56.22, and 56.55 respectively. The average score of control class of kinetic reaction, reaction mechanism, temperature effect, and photochemistry are: 43.22, 48,86, 48,40, and 49,84 respectively. It has been suggested to use this teaching models for other topics of physical chemistry
